About the Coach

My name is Howard Blalock. I am the father of three young men and the grandpa to one little guy (currently). With over 25 years of experience coaching youth athletes. I’ve had the privilege to coaching or help coach basketball, football, baseball, soccer, track and field, cross country, and golf. I’ve also been fortunate to participate, at some level, in all of these sports. While I believe winning is an important aspect of athletics, I don’t think it’s the primary reason for participation. We play because we love it. We play because sports create powerful attributes that fuel us for the rest of our lives.

Ball to Life was founded out of my lifelong passion for athletics and their transformative impact on athletes’ lives. From youth through college, Ball to Life strives to provide knowledge and insight to help guide athletes, coaches, and parents as they navigate the world of sports. Our blog covers topics such as achieving your dreams, building self-confidence, perseverance, physical and mental training, high school and college transitions, and more. Each topic is framed to connect the realities of competition today with the future impact of these experiences—bridging the gap between Ball and Life.

I aim to provide athletes and their support systems with actionable insights and guidance to motivate and nurture their athletic pursuits while fostering personal growth. This connection between sports and life skills is what I want to bring in everything that I create for the next generations. My dream is a future where coaches and parents focus on the personal development of athletes—not just their performance on the field. Sports are a powerful tool when used the right way.

Why Should You Trust Me?

The passion I bring to teaching all athletes the love of the game and the love of life sets me apart. There is nobody more dedicated to seeing kids succeed than I am. The future lies in our youth, and my mission is to support the development of all athletes, not just the stars. I want every athlete to realize their own version of success.

Throughout my coaching career, I’ve worked with athletes at various stages of development. While some have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, what I’m most proud of are the lasting relationships I’ve built with young athletes over the years. Whether in sports or in life, my greatest hope is that I’ve made a positive impact on their journeys. This same hope inspires me as I embark on the Ball to Life journey.

The passion that I have for sports fuels a belief that sports has a powerful impact on our youth. However, there are kids that don’t have an opportunity to participate due to financial reasons. Therefore, I pledge that a portion of all proceeds will go to support kids in need. This is my primary passion!

Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for supporting Ball to Life.
